Victorian Lady Tag

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Love This Technique

This technique is new to me but I just love it! Stamping on Tim Holtz idea-ology frosted and shaping your stamped image to add dimension to your project. I made my tag following Tim Holtz’s September 2015 tag tutorial. Click here for Tim Holtz’s supply list and tutorial.

Hickory smoke and tarnished brass distress sprays were used to create the tag background. I stamped the Inkadinkado Victorian lady 60-00726 and Stampabilities small monarch butterfly 155432-c on alcohol inked alcohol ink cardstock and frosted and used the gothic THS026 layering stencil.

Tim Holtz’s September 2015 tag is gorgeous! I love following his tutorials and learning new techniques. Join in the fun here.

I’ve been waiting for my order to get started on this month’s tag and it arrived! It was so much fun trying different alcohol ink color combinations and seeing the results. I’m glad I ordered two packs of alcohol ink cardstock so I still have some left! Tim Holtz idea-ology frosted is really cool to mold and shape to create special effects. I have never worked with it before but I will be including it in future projects.

The front of my tag background was made using hickory smoke and tarnished brass distress spray and on the back of the tag I added picket fence distress spray to the mix.  I used the gothic THS026 layering stencil, the butterfly from Tim Holtz’s flights of fancy clear stamp set css25856 and the Sizzix lady with hats die set 657854 on this tag.

12 Tags of 2015... June tag

·         embellishments: fleur brad

·         Tim Holtz distress spray stain: brushed pewter
·         Tim Holtz alcohol ink: latte, silver
·         tools: distress sprayer, mini ink blending tool, scissors, craft sheet, heat tool, big shot
·         adhesive: Scotch quick-dry adhesive, foam tape, glossy accents

Following Tim’s tutorial the #8 manila tag background was made using brushed pewter distress spray stain, tumbled glass, broken china, chipped sapphire distress ink and the THS004 stripes layering stencil.

The Old Jalopy die was cut using green and brown cardstock and Inkssentials foil tape. All edges and creases were inked with walnut stain distress ink. The brown die cut wheels where trimmed down and inked to form the interior tire. A mirrored star adorns the wheel. I cut the roof off of the brown jalopy, inked it and layered it over the green jalopy.

The hood ornament is an upside down fleur brad cut in half and covered in foil tape. The foil tape pieces are highlighted with latte alcohol ink using a cotton swab. Silver alcohol ink was applied with a cotton swab to plastic packaging to create the windows.

I cut out the tiny pictures from Tim Holtz idea-ology Destinations paper pad and glued them to the back of the film strip ribbon. Four additional pieces of paper were cut and inked with walnut stain distress ink. I arranged the pieces of paper, added the pen nib and glued the ends of the film strip ribbon loosely over the top. The enjoy the journey stamp from THJ009 saying stuff stamp collection is stamped on green cardstock, layered over texture cardstock and popped up with foam mounting tape for added dimension. I finished the tag with distress inked crinkle ribbon.
